Noted below are some of the charities that the crochet community support. This is not an exhaustive list. It also includes links to other sites where you can find more charities that you can support. McGrath Foundation – A number of groups are making blankets as a group project to donate –crochet and hardanger.
RSPCA - creating dog sweaters for the animals rescued by the local RSPCA.
Rockhampton Hospital – creating blankets and caps for those on the Palliative Care Ward.
Miracle Babies – This site includes suggestions for items suitable for premature babies to then donate to your local hospital.
Poppies for the 5000 Poppies Project crochet, knit or sew poppies to be used in a memorial at Federation Square in Melbourne for ANZAC Day.
Red Heart Day - Send a heart, a square or a whole blanket to raise funds for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.
Red Cross – knit or crochet trauma teddies, that can be dropped at any local red cross shop or centre.
Mission without Borders - Australia - Beanies, blankets, socks, scarves and all things warm wanted. Their site includes patterns and a regularly updated list on what they need.
Knit 4 Charities – an internet based group that have a monthly charity they support. They also accept crochet items.
Crochet for Charity – facebook group where members select a charity each quarter.
Angel Blanket Australia wish to provide hospitals with blankets for babies that are born prematurely at 16-23 weeks. Please visit the website for more information.
