Crochet Extra – February 2023
What a busy month February is turning out to be!
Registration for the tournament opened today and already we have been inundated with people signing up. So if you have difficulty bringing up the information or registreting please be patient. The tournament itself doesn’t begin until April 1st – so there is sufficient time to register and get your yarn packs. Find all the details about the tournament here.
The end of last month we saw in the Chinese New Year under the Lunar calendar – 2023 is the year of the Rabbit. The rabbit is the symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity. We have some lovely patten books to crochet, knit, or tat your very own rabbit in celebration of the Chinese New Year zodiac and bring some peace and prosperity to your life. Browse through our amigurumi books for inspiration to crochet your own rabbit
It was very exciting to open up boxes of our new yarn—Fusion Sulco—a mix of baby llama and lyocell (wood pulp). This 4 ply yarn has many exciting shades which are a mix of neutrals and vibrant colours. The yarn has a wonderful subtle shimmer, is soft and silky with 175 meters on a 50 gram ball. I am making a light weight scarf with it and it is gorgeous to use.
I’ve had a few people refer me to read the book Tuesday Evenings with the Copeton Craft Resistance – as it deals with a group of primarily crocheters. I haven’t read it myself yet, but read rave reviews, so you may also be interested in it. I often have books read to me while I crochet so I benefit from two past-times at once….This is now added to my list. Check it out here
Looking forward to March, we have two classes you can join and we are planning some more special weekend workshops – so stay tuned.
Teefa Turtle First two weeks of March
Beaded Jewel Earrings second two weeks of March
Until next time

Theme—Love is in the Air
February – also known as ‘The Month of love’!
With Valentine’s Day falling in the middle of the month on the 14th, it has become a popular month for Weddings, Bridal Showers and Romantic Dates where gifts of love are exchanged.
I know the motto is Diamonds are a girl’s best friend but for Crocheters and Knitters, Yarn, is what does it for us…. am I right? I mean, it doesn’t hurt if it comes wrapped in a diamond bracelet…. I wouldn’t complain.
Well, how about some luxury yarn to get the romance happening. Our new Fusion Sulco yarn will make you feel spoiled. It feels so beautiful to work with, you will soon be addicted to love (pardon the song pun), when you use this yarn. Or make something with a touch of silk with the Mulberry Silk yarn and Risoni.
While you’re feeling the love why not show your hands some TLC (tender loving care) and start or add some ergonomic hooks to your kit. We have a great range of brands from Clover to Tulip in a huge range of sizes to suit any yarn or project, and your hands will be forever grateful.
Speaking of grateful, get yourself in the good books with that someone special in your life by giving them a gift you handmade. We have lots of great kits for all levels of crochet, a huge range of patterns and pattern books for crochet, knitting, tatting and lots of other crafts.
We also have a great range of wedding pattern books. What better way to give that unique touch of class to your wedding than to make pieces yourself. Decorations, jewellery, ring bearer cushion, bouquet wraps or the bouquet itself, lace edges or embellishments for your dress or the dress itself, a lacy shawl or anything your heart desires to impress your guests and make your special day memorable.
For those of you who have partners that are either too busy or dare I say it, oblivious to your wants, then try this…. print out the newsletter or pages from our website and highlight what you want with a big, bold note saying, “Happy Valentine’s Day to Me”. Then leave it where they will see it.
