Crochet Tournament 2024

Home Makers Challenge

Why?  Be in the draw to win some fabulous prizes, challenge yourself with something new for the home, and have a bit of crochet fun with fellow crocheters.

What is it?  You will get two projects to complete within a set timeframe – 4 weeks for each project.  Submit a photo within the time frame and you go into the draw to win some fabulous prizes.

There are two streams – a beginner (newbie) and intermediate (competent).

There is a prize for each stream in each stage and an overall prize for each stream that everyone who completes both stages by the final date will be eligible for.

The newbie projects are designed for those new to crochet with basic crochet skills.  They use the fundamental basic crochet stitches with some colour changing techniques.  In both streams, the stages progressively get a little more difficult and challenging, helping you to grow and learn new stitches and techniques.

Each stage is a complete standalone project, and will remain a mystery until each stage begins.  If you do not like the idea of a mystery, you can see the items for each stage here –
crochet tournament 2024 project reveal  (but please do not tell anyone what you see).  But if you like the idea of a mystery, just read on!

All designs have been prepared by Australian designers and will be written in both US and UK terminology.

When does it begin?  Registration opens 1st February, with Stage 1 beginning 1st April.  The timeline (Brisbane QLD time) is as follows:

Stage 1 – Begins 1st April 9.00am, finishes 11.59pm on 30th April

Stage 2 – Begins 1st May 9.00am, finishes 11.59pm on 31st May

What are the rules?  The rules can be accessed here – crochet tournament 2024 rules.  A copy will also be sent to when you complete your registration, and a copy will also be available in the Facebook group.

What do I get with my registration? For the registration fee of $23 you will get:

  • 4 patterns from 2 Australian designers
  • A discount of 10% off the regular price of yarn purchased for the tournament (this code is only available after registration)
  • Be in the running to win one of these fabulous prizes:
    • Gorgeous Fiddlesticks yarn packs from Texyarns International to the value of $50.
    • A spot at one of Crochet Australia’s online classes (for the month) (not including the kit) to be used before November 2024 – valued at $60.
    • A collection of 3 Yarn Bookazines by Scheepjes – valued at $60
    • Plus more

When you register, select your stream – beginner (newbie) or intermediate (competent).    You will get the patterns for both streams, but will only be eligible to enter into the draw for the stream you sign up for (you can of course sign up for both streams).

How do I register? Sign up by clicking on the button below. Look out in your email box for your downloadable information sheet which will have the full yarn requirements, your discount code to purchase your yarn and a full set of the rules.  (This email should arrive within 3 hours of completing your order)

How do I buy my yarn? If you wish to purchase yarn packs, we have introduced a lot more flexibility for your yarn choices. You can either select a pre-made colourway or build your own pack for each stage.
