Description
Are you up for the challenge to compete in Australia’s Crochet Tournament 2021?
Limber up your fingers and wrists and put your crochet skills to the test to complete three stages, and be in the draw to win some fabulous prizes. This Tournament is open to Australian and international crocheters (If you are international you will only be eligible for digital prizes).
Your $25 registration fee entitles you to receive all patterns for each stage. When you register you will need to specify either “beginner” or “intermediate” as your chosen Tournament stream. You will receive both beginner and intermediate patterns for each stage, but will only be eligible for prizes based on the level you signed up for. (International registrations will only be eligible to receive digital prizes)
The beginner stream is designed for those new to crochet or with basic crochet skills. In both streams, the stages progressively get a little more difficult and challenging, helping you to grow and learn new stitches and techniques. If you are new to crochet, please only sign up for the beginner/easy stream, and give yourself time to learn, both before and during the tournament.
Each stage is a complete standalone project. We had mixed feedback regarding keeping the patterns a mystery or not. If you do not like the idea of a mystery, you can see the items for each stagehere – But if you like the idea of mystery, just read on!
All designs have been prepared by Australian designers – and will be written in both US and UK terminology.
The timetable is as follows:
Stage 1 – Monday 3rd May to Monday 24th May (midnight Brisbane time)
Stage 2 – Tuesday 1st June to Tuesday 22nd June (midnight Brisbane time)
Stage 3 – Thursday 1st July to Thursday 22nd July (midnight Brisbane time)
There will be two prizes awarded for each stage – one for the beginner stream and one for the intermediate stream. Everyone completing their project and submitting their photo by the due date will go into the random draw for a prize. Everyone who completes all stages in the time set will be eligible to be in the final random draw. Full details on what to submit and how the random draw works are included in the rules which are available upon registration.
Prizes include: Gorgeous yarn packs from TexYarns Australia valued between $100 and $300, a 12 months’ subscription to HomeSpun magazine valued at $60, Vouchers from Spincushions, The Loopy Stitch and Crochet Road valued at $50 each, a ticket to the Sunshine Coast Crochet Retreat in September 2021 by Crochet Australia valued over $300 and a 3 month subscription to Crate Crochet Yarnaholic Box worth over $75 and Crochet Shawl Kits to the value of $60, and more.
Any yarn can be used, or tournament packs purchased from Crochet Australia. The full yarn requirements will be emailed to within a day or two after you have completed your registration. You will also be invited to join the Crochet Tournament Forum upon registration. The Crochet Tournament Forum will be where you find the rules, submit your entries, connect with others, and find help if you need it.
Just by registering, you’ll get:
- 6 patterns over the course of the tournament – both the easy and intermediate patterns
- Ability to purchase a tournament pack from Crochet Australia which is 10% below the normal retail price.
