Crochet Extra – November 2023

Crochet Extra – November 2023

I returned from holidays two weeks ago refreshed and energised for summer.  I had a trip through the Kimberleys in WA – it is a spectacular part of the country!  And of course I am summer ready – the weather there was beautiful and warm – the only disappointing thing was the inability to swim in the sea (the crocodiles and sharks take precedence there).   It had been on my to do list for the past 15 years and I was so glad to be able to finally do it.  I now only have 3 big ones left!  Do you have places on your bucket list?  Do make sure you revisit it regularly and make progress towards them.  And of course Sharon, Sheelagh and my Mother kept you all sorted with your crochet needs.

And of course I took a number of crochet projects with me – as we relaxed in the afternoons/evenings and looked out over the coastal gorges.  I almost managed to finish them.

christmas gift guide 2023But it’s now full steam ahead for summer crochet and of course with Christmas just around the corner (55 days) there is much to be done!  Have you made much of a dent in your Christmas crafting?  Don’t forget to check out our Christmas Gift Giving Page for gift ideas to make and give, or items you can gift to your crafty friends.  We are also updating this regularly, so check back every now and again!

We’ve also received details about the cutoff dates for Christmas deliveries from Australia Post:
Regular Parcel Post – last date to send 18th December (except Perth and Darwin which is 14th December)
Express Parcel Post – last date to send 21st December (except Perth and Darwin which is 20th December)
These dates apply for metro areas only!  But please don’t delay – we know from experience that parcels often take longer during November and December.    When you are ordering, don’t forget to stock up on your needs across the Christmas holiday period – we will be closed from Friday 22nd December 2023 until Monday 8th January 2024.

christmas 2023Our annual Christmas Crochet project is in the final throws of planning and we will launch this next week – in the meantime here is a sneak peek – can you guess what it is?

mend your crochetOur crochet classes kick off again this month with a very important one – learning how to mend tears in your crocheted items!  After the hours we spend creating beautiful things, it is disappointing not to be able to use them because of a tear that occurs (or a knot unravelling!).  And it’s not as hard as you think.  So join our November class to take back your creations!

Theme— Springing into Summer

Summer is well and truly on our doorstep with the warm winds of a changing season knocking on our door.

On the Sunshine Coast we are experiencing pockets of hot days with nights that are still a comfortable temperature. However, my crafting plans are shifting with the seasonal change to projects that are cooler to make, wear or use.

To help you prepare for the change we have a great selection of books and patterns to get you summer ready. From bags and baskets to use for the beach or meandering through the markets and lightweight clothing to keep you comfortable on those hot days including an assortment of hats. There are also outfits for the kids to keep then cool and costumes for dolls so that the little Mumma can keep her doll summer fresh.

Let’s not forget that summer is the prefect time to entertain family and friends especially with Christmas and New Year celebrations fast approaching. Your home may need a touch of cool to create that summer vibe.

We have loads of items from Lantern kits to beaded jar cover kits perfect for putting lights and candles in to illuminate any space, Christmas bunting and ambient wall hangings, patterns for table runners and tablecloths that will impress any visitor along with a variety of hangers for plants, shelves or storage options like fruit bowls etc.

We also offer a wide selection of cotton and cotton blend yarns that are perfect for summer crochet and crafts, including the stunning range of Lizbeth threads in 4 different sizes and vast colour selection including variegated. For those light evening makes there is also the beautiful selection of silks.

To help you bring it all together we have a fantastic range of accessories that would delight any crocheter/knitter/tatter/crafter.

flip-flop-crochet-chair-socks-featSo let us help you to transition from a season of spring cleaning where the scent of new blossoms were in the air to now adding some light, bright and airy makes to your wardrobes and décor ready for the summer season.  I found this cute pattern for table socks that I think you will agree bring the feeling of summer indoors – Flip Flop Table Socks by Jo to the World Creations.
