Description
Begin your crochet journey learning from a qualified Crochet Teacher –Â Lynda Tomkins. Â
Lynda has been teaching people of all ages to crochet since 2015, and continues to teach existing crocheters new skills and techniques at her weekly classes and annual crochet retreat. Â
Tuesday afternoon group sessions run for two hours – 12.30 – 2.30pm. Â
During these sessions we progressively cover the basics of crochet – learning how to hold the hook and yarn; making the key stitches – chain, double crochet and treble; increasing and decreasing; working in a circle; making a granny square and reading a pattern.  (not all in the one session).Â
Each week we build from the knowledge gained in the previous week, and how you went with your at-home practice work. That way you drive the pace of learning that suits you. Â
If you are completely new to crochet my recommendation is to have 3 x 2 hour lessons (if you purchase these at the same time you will get a voucher towards buying materials when you come into the store). Â
If you already have some basic knowledge, the sessions will begin with a review of what you know and help you progress to the next level. Â
If you need specific help for a particular stitch or help with a specific pattern, pattern reading etc, book into our ‘Crochet Clinic’ here. Â
These sessions will be run along side the Learn to Crochet Sessions.  You can also sign up for private one-on-one sessions by contacting the store.  Â
When you sign up to the class you will receive an email with a coupon code that will entitle you to 10% off the purchase of a hook and yarn for these lessons (10% off regular retail prices). If you are serious about crochet we recommend you use a hook with an ergonomic handle – Clover Amour – size 4mm. We also recommend you select the Superb 8 as your learning yarn – as it is not too expensive and is a good quality acrylic – or Catona cotton. Both of these yarns work well with the 4mm hook. Â
Lynda’s qualifications include: Completion of the Certification for Teaching Crochet – Levels 1 and 2 – with the Craft Yarn Council of Australia Completion of Masters of Advanced Crochet Stitches & Techniques with the Crochet Guild of America.
Being an Instructor for the Crochet Teachers Certificate run by the Crochet Guild of Australia. Â
She has also regularly run workshops at craft events, including the Crochet Guild of Australia conferences.
